However, in my ignorance I had not realized that there is a second daily repeatable that grants one Gold Star. Maybe i"m the only one who didn't know this, but I also admit that on McF, my first through Mirkwood, I never even KNEW there was a camp at Mithecad in the Ashenslades lol. I hit Kindred, thought I had cleared out all points in the map, and never ventured close enough I guess. BUt I found it on Gammy, much to my surprise. But the thing is, Gammy did a LOT of quests out of there as well, but also hit Kindred before completing them. Hence she missed the fact that after a million quests from that camp, you can open a sequence that will lead to the daily repeatable. Who knew? Not me.
So for those interested in collecting the Stars, you may go to Mithecad. Clear out most of the quests you obtain there. Eventually you will be able to talk to the Elf Harchador, who will then give you a string of quests as follows:
1.Eliminate the Scouts
2.Sending a Message
3.Scouting Ânghum-maudhûl
- 3A Assault on Ânghum-maudhûl - kill 15
- 3B Defeat Darúk and burn his banner
- 3C Ruin the STockpile - burn 5 woodpiles
4.Repel the Reinforcements - kill 15 orcs and gather 10 badges - Repeatable that gives 1 Star
And by the way - it is so much easier to get your 5 Badges for the other Gold Star quest if you pcik up the quest, then do the skirmish Protectors of Thangulhad. The orcs there will drop them readily, and if you are like me, you are probably trying to get more Scrolls of Empowerment via skirmishes anyway.

There are actually 3 quests - you are forgeting Death from Below. Depending on your class this can be fairly easy (If you don't mind blowing cooldowns)

Took me a couple or three fails on Sgrath to get this one done. Timing is my trick - pull the boss so that both dwarfs end up on only one goblin.
Pull the boss and adds so that the dwarfs are far enough away that the boss mobs buff doesn't work. Sword and board the boss down in controlled burn, when the dwarfs finish off their lone gobby they come and help - mop up the rest.
You will probably need to work out when to use heals etc (man heal is a big help while you are learning - can do it sometimes without that now)
(Also, you don't need to fight the troll, really you don't )
silly Champ
It's a nice way to test builds and gets easier as you up morale etc etc
Also a nice easy way to get the Black Badges done at the same time
